Congo red staining with methanol
Congo red staining is a staining method commonly used for amyloid, which uses the special interaction between Congo red and amyloid to achieve staining. Congo red has a selective affinity for amyloid and can easily stain amyloid. This method has outstanding advantages and can provide clear and accurate dyeing results.
Technical principle
Congo red is an azo dye whose molecule has a long thread-like structure. It binds to amine groups and hydroxyl groups in starchy substances and is attached in parallel to the starch fibers, thus exhibiting a red color. Congo red can be used to identify the decomposition of cellulose or cellulolytic bacteria by dyeing the fiber into a red complex. At the same time, it does not act on cellobiose and glucose.
